Customization is a Wonderful Thing

Being able to customize something you use makes it more personal to you, even if there are thousands of others using pretty much the same thing as you.

So, why does this make what you use more yours? Does it really make a difference in the world whether it looks more like what you want then what is handed to you by the theme maker?

My own feelings are that it doesn't really make it more mine as it makes it more of a statement of what i might be. For the most part, i'm not exactly just one type of person. I like lots of different things. There is no one style that will be inclusive of me. I have ideals (which are represented on this site more or less) and i have my reality which may show up occasionally as a photo i post or something i write.

How you look at yourself and then how you want to be looked at can be very different too. It is hard not to dream of water for me. I live in an extreme drought area, currently experiencing the worst one in recorded weather history. I long for a place cooler and wetter than where i am now. Snowier too.

So my desires are in my design.

But i also know that it is not all me. Nor should it be. Some pieces are not really sharable unless you really know me well, some are easily shared. I don't squelch things because i fear sharing them, but more because they are not really important for you to know unless you really what to know me.

So, what glimpses of what is here may give you a picture of what i am that if you got to meet me, or if you know me, may not match. That is okay. I will try to not give you stereotypical bits and you won't know things about me that i do not think need to be shared on first meeting with anyone. Just because there are some people who feel i must know their religion, sexual orientation or ethnicity in the first 10 seconds does not make it right. And if you are telling me these things as a warning, i will take it as such and probably leave.

Let us discover our shared interests and all the things that make us different over time. Then we can decide if we are friends or just acquaintances or maybe even strangers still. By the way, anyone of these is fine, not everyone needs to become friends. Make the time to become friends by getting to know each other. In time, you will know the secrets as well as the surface that shows to everyone.

Customization of your surfaces is what makes you who you are. Don't settle for less.

Shiny

Everything is shiny. I mean everything. This is a madness i think, one that allows my mind to grasp onto any small thought and go crazy with it. Going to try writing/drawing it out to see if it will stop. Wish me luck.
